- Offer description:
This farming operation specializes in growing row crops, specifically corn and soybeans. Initial equipment and land preparations begin in mid-February, with planting occurring from late March through June. Weeding takes place from late March through August, followed by harvesting from September through November. Post-harvest duties, including equipment cleaning and preparation for storage, are completed in early December. Because it is not possible to grow crops during the winter months in northern Iowa, this position is seasonal. We operate a working farm and are seeking an individual to perform a variety of tasks throughout the agricultural season. Responsibilities include operating tractors and agricultural equipment to assist with essential farming activities such as tilling the ground in the spring, planting crops, cultivating planted fields, driving fuel and water tenders, spraying crops during the growing season, de-weeding, and mowing ditches during the summer. The position also involves assisting with harvest operations in the fall and performing post-harvest duties. Additional responsibilities may include equipment maintenance, such as washing, lubrication, and general upkeep of machinery. Specific job duties include preparing fields for planting, attaching and operating farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters, and using hand tools and bolts to secure attachments. The role also involves planting, weeding, spraying, and harvesting crops; fertilizing, dusting, and spraying to control insects, fungi, weeds, and diseases using hand or machine sprayers; and mixing and loading fertilizers, pesticides, or seeds into machinery. Candidates will be expected to load and unload crops or materials manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or augers, as well as drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools. Routine inspection, adjustment, maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment are also required. Additionally, maintaining farmland and mowing grass to keep the property in suitable condition for landlords is part of this role. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
