Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment including manually carrying and laying poly pipe at designated settings in the field; Check irrigation motors and observe sprinklers; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and primarily Fendt and Agco self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as combine, grain cart to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as soybeans, rice; Load agricultural products into trucks without over or underfilling bed or trailer, and drive to market or storage facilities; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Maintain inventory; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Must speak and understand English. Approximate staggered entry: 4 workers to begin March 10 and 3 workers to begin April 10.
