Skill Level 2. Container Tree Production: Workers will plant, stake, prune, weed the pots and move container trees. They may deliver the final product. Workers will weed and mow the area around the nursery production area and hay fields to ensure minimal weed seed comes into the nursery area. Workers will put away the unsold container trees in hoophouses for winter including building the hoops and covering them before winter each season. Workers will perform property maintenance tasks. Farm Equipment Operation: Workers will drive tractors, skid steers, mowers, and may use other potting equipment including a pot filler. Workers may use weed eaters as needed for crop production. General Duties; Duties performed in the field will be sporadic all through the contract due to the various duties, i.e., preparing soil and pots, planting, pruning, cutting, deadheading, pinching, trimming to shape, spacing plants, potting, fertilizing with granular or liquid fertilizer, cleaning work areas, transporting plant materials in the nursery/hoophouse areas, loading and unloading plants and all other duties associated with ornamental plant production. Between harvesting, workers will be required to perform duties to prepare crops for marketing. Workers will also unload pallets from trucks or wagons into fields for transplanting. Worker may unload and restock for storage. Fruit/Vegetable Production: Duties to include but not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store vegetables. Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill lo tractor and drive tractor in field lo till soil and plant/cultivate crops. Perform variety of other duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery. May plan and schedule plowing, cultivating and harvesting operations. Plant, cultivate, harvest. Lay plastic, setting plants, weeding (w/hoe & by hand), driving stakes, grading/sorting and activities associated with vegetable production. Assist in setting up products for sale of crops. General Conditions: If work is available beyond normal workdays, employer may offer, but not require, worker an opportunity to work additional hours. Workers will report to work at designated time and place as directed by assigned employer each day. workers may be requested ten (10) hours per day depending on conditions In fields and the maturity of the crops. Also, workers may be requested to work on federal holidays and their Sabbath but will not be required. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work ls available. Downtime: Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crops or other conditions beyond the employer's control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season. Workers may be required to work In fields when crops are wet with dew / rain and should have suitable clothing for conditions which include light rain and temperatures ranging from 10 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers should be able to stand, bend, stoop and work for prolonged periods of time and be physically fit to perform duties as assigned. Care must always be exercised with any use of equipment.
