Assessing the health of the hive, check mite infestations, Monitoring and treating the hive when health problems arise, Harvesting and extracting honey, Prepare bees and equipment for pollination activities, cleaning and constructing hives raising and replacing queen bees, Dividing colonies when necessary and replacing combs. Checking colonies for additional store capacity. Fixing beehive equipment when needed. Mow, cut, weed fields and ground preparation to set the apiaries. Assist with farm building maintenance and maintaining the farm truck clean. For weed control around the beeyards, the employer uses a trimmer/weed-eater. Workers do not perform hand-weeding in a stooped, kneeling, or squatting position, and the use of short-handled tools is not required. Will abide by Sections 3437 and 3456(b–c) of Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations: - Any hand-weeding will be occasional or intermittent (20% or less of weekly hours). - No short-handled tools will be used in a stooped, kneeling, or squatting position. Transporting and relocation beehives to different orchards or blooming fields for pollination, honey harvest or feeding yards, load and unload beehives at flatbed truck using a forklift. All driving time will be fully compensated. Driving time, fueling, paperwork, vehicle maintenance, and supply pickups will be paid as hours worked. Driver’s license is not a minimum requirement.
