Duties also include the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and harvest crops. Participation in irrigation activities includes laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment. Employees will operate equipment including but not limited to large extruder, small extruder, ingredient elevator, corn elevator, finished feed elevator, mixer elevator, fines elevator, transfer corn elevator, corn cleaner elevator, transfer catfish feed elevator, ingredient tanks, mixers, scale hoopers, computer that batches ingredients, finished feed product drag, driers, boiler, corn cleaner, take up fans, sewing machines, bagging line conveyor, wrapping machine, oil drum and elevator, forklift, hammermill, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, mowers, and track-hoes. Employees will be required to perform regular mechanical repair, maintenance, record keeping, and cleaning around the worksite. Responsibilities include using an air hose to blow out dryers, inspecting glass covers on feeder tanks to ensure proper feed levels, steaming out and cleaning the extruder, maintaining sharp cutting knives, starting the extruder, and verifying that feed is floating properly. Employees are also responsible for drying feed, monitoring and recording feed moisture levels every hour to maintain a target of 10%, and completing all required documentation accurately. Additional duties include removing debris from farm areas, implementing bird control measures, weeding where needed for crop support, and performing other related tasks as needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions.
