AEWR; US Workers: TX: $11.81; H2A Workers: TX: $9.97. We are an alfalfa and livestock farming operation. Harvest of alfalfa typically starts in April and continues through November. We also are a seed stock livestock operation requiring daily monitoring of cows during the calving season. We are mostly a family run operation that need additional help. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc; attach/detach implements; clean work areas; construct facilities; direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting; feel plants/crops leaves and note coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil; identify plants, crops, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; inform farm managers of plants or crops progress; load crops and drive trucks to transport to and from fields and/or storage locations or facilities; load and unload materials and commodities; load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields; maintain grounds and landscaping; maintain inventory; mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter, spreader, sprayer type machinery; operate self propelled machinery; regulate conditions; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; set up repair, maintain, and operate specialized equipment; tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating; tilling soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning crops; trap and destroy pests; use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives; use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools; weigh containers and record weights and identifying information; work in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: bailers and other hay equipment, dirt moving equipment, GPS guidance systems, forklift, horseback riding for sorting, caring for livestock, irrigation equipment, manure spreading equipment, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, skid steers, sprayers, spreaders, swathers, bailers, and other hay equipment, tillage equipment, tractor/trailer combinations. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: cattle, horses, hay.
