AEWR; US Workers: TX: $11.81; H2A Workers: TX: $9.97. We run a registered cattle operation. Brahman cattle. We need an employee who has extensive knowledge of cattle. Most of our breeding is done by artificial insemination. The employee must be familiar with cattle heat detection and be willing to learn artificial insemination. Also the employee must be proficient at operating a tractor and tractor implements. We have 75-100hp tractors and will be using loaders, grapplers, mowers and other tractor equipment. The employee should expect to preform daily cattle feeding and care. Then various ranch tasks after feeding is completed. Knowledge of mechanical repair, welding and carpentry skills would be a huge bonus when we are selecting an employee. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc; attach/detach implements; be able to handle working in high humidity; clean work areas; construct facilities; identify plants, crops, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; maintain grounds and landscaping; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating; use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives; use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools; work in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, swathers, bailers, and other hay equipment, tractors. Must speak and understand English.
