We raise honeybees, primarily for breeding. There are both mating nucs and production hives for Production of Packages Bees, 5 frame nucs, beehives and mated queens for sale seasonally. Employees will assist in selection of breeding stock and grafting starting in late winter, breeding of queens throughout spring and summer (which involves feeding, filling with bees, placing cells, picking/caging queens, and fixing nucs), and preparation of breeding equipment for storage during the off season. Employees will manage beehives used for breeding and honey production, including but not limited to checking hives for abnormalities, feeding, medicating, requeening of hives, division or splitting, building and maintaining equipment, as well as loading and transporting hives seasonally. Employees will also assist with maintaining bee yards by mowing, trimming trees, clearing vegetation, weed eating, fence repair, and other general apiary duties as assigned. Work hours may vary depending on specific task at hand and may involve working through the night or starting early in the morning as is necessary to move bees. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Employer may pay above the listed rate based on tenure, skills, performance, or business needs; all such opportunities are available to U.S. and H 2A workers alike.
