Drive and control farm equipment and attached farm implements to plant, irrigate, cultivate, and harvest trees. Adjust, inspect, repair, and service farm machinery. Specifically, they will set up and operate irrigation equipment, operate mowers, fertilize soil, or plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest trees. They will repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to trees; clear and maintain irrigation ditches; and report to farm owners/managers as needed. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms or machinery. Observe and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops. Using hand sprayers, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches, pipes, and pumps.
