Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, disks, field cultivators, skid steer loaders, grain carts, self-propelled and tractor mounted sprayers, combines, cotton picker, cotton round bale mover, planter, roller, harrow, mowers, excavators, grader, backhoe, lime spreader, ATV/UTV/side by side/four-wheelers, Farmall with loader, articulated tractors, pickup trucks, various trailers, and various John Deere and Case IH transmissions. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Employees will participate in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; building, constructing and maintaining levees; and installing and removing levy gates and putting in spillways. Manual duties include but are not limited to loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of fields, irrigation systems, storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, gates, barns, farm headquarters, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; and regularly servicing equipment. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. Tools and/or other job related items (such as phones, chargers, wind meters, etc) may be issued to the employee. The employee will be responsible for loss or damage due to employee negligence. Employees will be held accountable for equipment damage due to failure to properly service according to instructions. Employees will be required to read, understand, and follow instructions as prescribed in the equipment operator's manuals. Employees will be required to pass a test over information contained in the owner's manuals. Failure to pass on the third attempt may result in dismissal. Must speak and understand English.
