- Offer description:
Our calving season begins in December and runs through the end of February. During this time, cattle are brought in from pastures and confined for calving, requiring additional care, feeding, and assistance with deliveries. Because pastures are unavailable in winter, cows must be fed daily, and we also focus on repairing fences during this period. From mid-December through the end of February, we need help with calving, feeding cattle, and maintaining fences. In the summer months, cattle graze on pasture, so feeding is not required. Job duties include feeding and watering livestock; monitoring feed and water supplies; mixing feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions; and ordering and distributing feed using trucks, tractors, or other equipment. Employees will examine animals to detect illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain, and will segregate, mark, and identify livestock for ownership, grade, or condition using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Once the calving season ends, cattle are returned to pasture and require minimal daily care. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
