Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations. Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Mix feed and additives, fill feed trough for livestock and maintain heated water supply, including removing ice. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition Weigh cattle and move to the appropriate pens. Spray livestock with insecticide. Move cattle to and from various summer grazing pastures. Confine livestock and provide proper grooming/clipping. Calve out cows during the calving period. Care for calves and nursing mothers. Move equipment or livestock from one location to another, including to and from pastures. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Groom, clip, trim, or castrate animals. Fix and repair fencing. Drive pick-up truck to town for cattle supplies on occasion. Maintain equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, and yards. Performing haying duties. Operate snow removal equipment to operate feed wagons. Operate farming equipment to seed, plant, harvest and haul grain crops. General farm related duties such as servicing equipment, shop work, general facility maintenance, basic mechanical tasks, and truck driving skills. Crops: Wheat, Corn, Alfalfa, Winter Rye and Livestock. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
