Job duties will include harvesting agricultural crops; engaging in planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and post-harvest activities; and operating tractors, planters, sprayers, irrigation equipment, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow, fertilize, plant, spray, and harvest crops. Workers will irrigate soil using portable pipes, ditch systems, and pivot irrigation systems, and will install, maintain, and repair pivots, ditches, pumps, and climate control systems. Duties also include attaching implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; loading hoppers, conveyors, or containers using forklifts, augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks; manipulating controls to set, activate, and adjust machinery; and observing and listening to equipment to detect malfunctions. Workers will inspect, adjust, and perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, as well as repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Additional responsibilities include loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers; weighing crop-filled containers and recording identifying information; measuring, weighing, and counting products to ensure compliance with specifications; and sorting, moving, and organizing products, materials, containers, and orders. Employees may also drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools; participate in inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; clean and maintain work areas, equipment, facilities, containers, grounds, and landscaping; and perform general manual agricultural, aquacultural, horticultural, or forestry-related tasks as needed.
