Job will require the following tasks related to livestock: Maintain heated watering system; operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons; mix feed and additives; fill feed troughs with feed and water for livestock; remove ice formed in water; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles; apply medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; confine livestock in stalls; wash and clip castrate livestock; clip identifying notches or symbols on animal or brand animal using branding iron to indicate ownership; clean livestock stalls and sheds using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels; maintain building and equipment; maintain breeding, feeding and costs records; hauling hay as needed for feed; drive to town to pick up supplies for cattle; and performing maintenance on the used equipment. Job requires the application, handling, and management of manure as part of the farm's nutrient management program, as well as equipment operation tasks including snow removal during winter months. Employees are responsible for applying manure to agricultural fields at specified rates to ensure proper fertilization while minimizing environmental impact. This includes handling pen pack manure using loaders and chain floor spreaders, and inspecting each load to ensure safety and compliance prior to transport and application. Employees will also manage and oversee the manure stockpile, ensuring proper storage and monitoring for potential runoff or contamination risks. Accurate load sheets must be completed for every load to support record keeping and traceability requirements. Daily duties may vary depending on livestock and weather conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. 7am - 5pm M-F 7am-12pm Saturday
