Operate 100hp tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and/or forklifts for the sorting, grading and packing of onions. Will perform as necessary, maintenance and/or alterations to the grading line and bagging equipment and farm equipment as conditions warrant or as needed. Onion bins that are filled and covered, will be transported from the onion storage facilities to the sorting, grading and packing areas. Will repair onion bins as directed. Will sort and pack onions as directed. Will palletize and wrap 50# bags of onions. Post-harvest activities include grading onions to certain specifications, operating bagging equipment, loading tractor trailers with finished product, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing grading and bagging equipment as necessary. Workers must have experience in working with farm sanitary and safety practices as required in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) plans. Due to health and safety concerns relating to pesticide application and the operation of equipment on our farm, workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions in English. Workers should report for work with own suitable work clothing. Field temperatures can range from 30 degrees and lower (F). Workers may be required to work in damp or wet working conditions. After hiring, employer may conduct random drug tests at employer’s expense. Must be physically able to lift up to 80 pounds *Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of 3 months experience in performing tasks described in this order within an onion farming environment
