- Offer description:
Job requires the application, handling, and management of manure as part of the farm's nutrient management program, as well as equipment operation tasks including snow removal during winter months. Employees are responsible for applying manure to agricultural fields at specified rates to ensure proper fertilization while minimizing environmental impact. This includes handling pen pack manure using loaders and chain floor spreaders, and inspecting each load to ensure safety and compliance prior to transport and application. Employees will also manage and oversee the manure stockpile, ensuring proper storage and monitoring for potential runoff or contamination risks. Accurate load sheets must be completed for every load to support record keeping and traceability requirements. The role requires preparing, maintaining, cleaning, servicing, and operating all equipment used for manure handling and application. Routine inspections and preventative maintenance of machinery are expected to ensure operational readiness and safety. Basic troubleshooting and mechanical repair assistance may be required to keep equipment functioning properly. During the winter months or in periods of snow accumulation, the position includes snow removal responsibilities. This involves operating snow removal equipment to clear snow from feedlots, driveways, access roads, and equipment paths. Sand or salt may be applied to maintain safe walking and driving conditions around livestock areas and work zones. Timely snow removal is essential to prevent disruption in daily operations, particularly feeding and equipment access. Daily duties may vary. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
