Lettuce Harvest: The box maker is responsible for assembling boxes, crates or totes and contains material in the harvester. once product has been packed, the box maker closes or covers the containers and places them in the conveyor leading to the crew loader. The box maker places labels and tags on bags, sleeves and containers for proper product traceability. The box maker assists the in the machine operator on the assembly and break down of the harvest machine. At times the loader may be required to perform other tasks or duties in order to maintain the crew's productivity. This position reports directly to the crew foreman. 1. The employee assists in the assembly of the harvester before the beginning of the shift. 2. The box maker keeps stock count of all raw materials in the harvester and reports stock amount to the crew foreman. 3. The box maker makes adjustments to the harvester's wings while the crew is harvesting. 4. The box maker assembles boxes, crates, and totes. Once assembled they are placed on the harvester's wings. 5. The box maker maintains control of the speed to all conveyor belts. 6. The box maker will place date codes and stickers on boxes, bags, or plastic sleeves using a plastic sticker dispenser. 7. When boxes are packed, the employee takes the box from the conveyor, closes or covers the container and places it on the rear conveyor belt. 8. The employee is responsible for loading and offloading all raw packing material from the harvester. 9. The box maker assists in the break down or disassembly of the harvester and prepares it for transport. 10. The employee is required to follow all safety policies and procedures, is required to report any unsafe circumstances, and is required to report any injury to the crew foreman. 11. Box makers are required to wash their hands before the beginning of the work shift, before and after every rest and meal period and at the end of their shift. 12. The employee is required to follow all food safety policies. 13. Other duties may be assigned as required in order to maintain productivity.
