Job duties include operating various equipment and performing manual labor to produce spring bedding plants primarily within the greenhouse for wholesale to local retailers. Duties to do so are to prepare soil and growth media, bed plants, fill pots, propagate, pot and re-pot as needed, plant, transplant, weed, prune, mulch, stack and tie, harvest, and transport plants to the storage areas. The employees will also install and maintain overhead misting irrigation and drip line irrigation systems; running fertigation; and inspecting plants and greenhouse growing areas to ensure plants are receiving adequate water supplies. Duties also include upkeep, maintenance, repair, handiwork and improvement of facilities including greenhouses, nursery buildings, growing tables and nursery sections which involves manual repairs and mechanical work to greenhouses; covering and uncovering greenhouses and shelters with poly sheeting or similar materials; moving pots and liners to and from holding areas and/or greenhouses to potting areas or other holding areas; manually transplanting plants to larger pots; cleaning and repairing pots and tools. Equipment that employees will operate includes but is not limited to tractors, trailers, precision equipment and various pieces of large equipment to execute the necessary tasks given. Employees will perform house keeping/cleaning duties; lift various heavy items as needed; use hand tools and perform welding duties as necessary to perform maintenance and repair the work location and their personal housing as instructed and will be expected to perform work duties to the best of their abilities as instructed by the supervisors. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
