Workers will perform described job specifications as instructed by the Farm Manager or Crew Supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time and may include one or more of the following job specifications: Shuttle Bus Driver: Inspect vehicle and safety equipment on bus before driving. Pick up workers at hotel/living quarters and transport workers to work site. Report any accidents/injuries. Keep vehicle clean, transfer workers from one worksite to another when necessary. Assist in timekeeping. Provide documents/licenses to federal agencies when requested. Transport workers back to housing at the end of the workday. Operating a company vehicle during the period of employment the driver must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the United States or foreign equivalent license to operate the company vehicle in accordance with license restrictions and vehicle classification applicable to that license. General Farm Work: Tasks the worker must be able to perform include: apply mulch by row mulcher or by hand; apply ground cover to beds using machine or by hand; remove debris from bed preparation process to clean growing area; finish row ends with shovels provided by employer; unload plants by hand from trucks and move plants to planting location by hand; assist in pest controls; install culverts for field drainage; remove and reinstall sprinklers during bed preparation, re-plant missing or unhealthy plants as directed; remove or pull up strawberry plants in preparation for next crop; remove blossoms (de-blossom) to improve fruit quality; remove debris, boxes, and discarded fruit from fields to keep clean growing areas; general ranch maintenance; basic irrigation maintenance; make sandbags, clean and maintenance equipment and tools, assist in applications by hand or tractor of fertilizers and or/pesticides; frost control of sprinklers, frost blanket coverings, or hoop coverings. May be necessary to assist in the use of farm equipment such as tractors, trucks and harvest machinery, etc. Grove Clean-up/General Farm Work: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean- up work. These activities include pruning, painting trees, repair and or replace irrigation equipment, removal of debris, and other general grove clean-up work as required. Workers performing grove clean- up work will be paid the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing rate or the minimum wage rate whichever is higher. Workers may need to assist in the use of farm equipment such as tractors, trucks and harvesting machinery, etc. The Agricultural Equipment Operator essential work activity involves loading and transport of the highly perishable sugarcane crop. Once the raw sugarcane crop is cut, the sugarcane stalks are severed from their roots by a self-powered mechanical harvesting machine, the sugarcane is mechanically deposited into the field cart and transport by the equipment operator to a designated location on the farm. Equipment operators will operate from field to field and farm to farm as sugarcane is progressively harvested on the property. There are multiple loading stations on the property that serve as concentration points.
