Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties, all closely and directly related to the production of livestock on the range, found in SOC Code 45-2093 Farmworkers, Farm, Ranch, and Aquacultural Animals such as and not limited to: Work with cowboys at starting yard to receive cattle; Care for cows, heifers, calves, orphan calves; yearlings; Maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain; Assist in birth deliveries; Wean calves; Provide colostrum to orphan calves within 24 hours of birth; Feed, water, vaccinate, castrate, provide hay, assist calves with nursing; Milk cows by hand or by machine; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Break ice in water troughs; Segregate and sort animals; Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures; Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps; Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos; Drive trucks, tractors, loaders, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals; Scrape, pile, and load manure; Cover and uncover feed piles; Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions; Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations; Use hand tools such as such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, knives, wrenches, crow bars, air tools, and electric tools; Maintain grounds and landscaping with tractor, bushhog, weed eater, mower and other tools as necessary; Wash the parlor walls, floor, pit, bulk tank, feeders, milk pails, sinks and pipelines; Maintain, repair, and service equipment such as tractors, corrals, water systems, feed troughs and trucks.
