Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, and track-hoes. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm. Job duties also involve loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; and regularly servicing equipment. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. Additional Duties During Ginning Season: Gin work may be required during the ginning season. Gin work may include operating ginning machinery such as dryers, cleaners, gin stands, lint cleaners, bale presses (including recording bale and seed weights), bale hoisters, skid steer loaders, forklifts, and cotton module feeders. Workers may tag bales and assist with final preseason maintenance of equipment and rolling stock, including forklifts, skid steer loaders, yard tractors, cotton module trucks, and associated module truck loading systems. Duties may also involve supporting the gin operator by repairing equipment, clearing blockages, cleaning lint filters, restocking supplies, sweeping floors, removing trash buildup, and collecting cotton in the module yard. Workers may load cotton modules onto feeders, remove tarps from modules, roll up and store tarps, and move bales from the dock to the warehouse. Additional responsibilities include operating the mote press and securing wires on mote bales, handling cotton samples at the press, operating the cotton trash bale press, and managing storage of cotton trash bales. Workers will assist with routine maintenance of all gin machinery and equipment during the ramp-up and wind-down phases of the ginning season, perform general housekeeping and cleaning of the gin and warehouse areas, and carry out any other duties assigned by the shift leader or management, such as repairing module truck chains or bearings and loading module tarps for delivery.
