Basic Function: We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Dairy Nutrition/Calf Specialist to join our team. This role involves providing expert advice and support to dairy farms and calf ranches on a variety of key aspects, including calf management, nutrition, feeding, facility management, and more. As a Dairy Nutrition/Calf Specialist, you will be responsible for performing field visits, offering technical guidance on colostrum & milk management, sanitation, employee training, and maternity management. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Conduct regular field visits to calf ranches and dairies to advise on calf management, nutrition, feeding strategies, and facility hygiene. • Provide guidance on colostrum and milk management protocols, as well as maternity management for dairy cows. • Advise on cow comfort, reproduction management, and overall dairy farm profitability. • Take feed and forage samples to ensure the best nutritional strategies for optimal animal health and productivity. • Develop, formulate, and sell grain and supplements tailored to calf operations to improve farm productivity and animal growth. • Assist with employee training, ensuring best practices in farm management, sanitation, and animal care. • Monitor and improve sanitation and hygiene protocols on dairies and calf facilities. • Work closely with farm management to optimize dairy P&L (Profit and Loss), ensuring farm profitability while maintaining animal health. • Stay updated with the latest trends, research, and innovations in dairy nutrition and calf care. An employee shall not be employed more than eight (8) hours per workday or work in excess of forty (40) hours per workweek unless the employee receives one and one-half (1½) times such employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours worked over eight (8) hours in any workday or more than forty (40) hours in any workweek and double the employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours worked over twelve (12) hours in any one workday. The workday may begin / end earlier or later on any given day and evening. Typical workweek is Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., with potential nights and weekends required depending on business needs and weather.
