- Offer description:
McCammack Farms is a corn, soybean, and wheat farm located in west central Indiana. Harvest typically begins around September 15th and takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks, usually finishing by the end of November. Job duties include operating farm equipment like semi-trucks, tractors, etc and attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools, as well as operating tractors and various other pieces of farm equipment. Workers will engage in planting, weeding, spraying, and harvesting activities, and will be responsible for loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with the use of conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers. Tasks also include manipulating controls to set, activate, and adjust machinery mechanisms, and monitoring equipment during operation to detect malfunctions. Additional responsibilities involve operating a tractor and grain cart to catch grain from the combine while on the move in the field and loading semis at the ends of fields. Workers will operate farm trucks with hopper bottom trailers and dump grain into pits and augers. Some climbing of grain bins and grain legs may be necessary to perform minor repairs or to clear blockages. Operation of skid steers and backhoes for general field cleanup is also required, along with operating tractors equipped with tillage implements. General equipment maintenance, such as greasing, topping off fluids, and replacing wear parts, is also a key part of the job. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
