- Offer description:
Workers will assist with all aspects of the lambing season and general livestock care on a sheep and cattle farm. Responsibilities include monitoring pregnant ewes for signs of labor and assisting with deliveries when necessary, caring for newborn lambs to ensure they are nursing properly and receiving appropriate care, and performing regular health checks on both lambs and ewes. Workers will be expected to feed and water livestock, clean and maintain lambing pens and other animal facilities, and ensure a clean, safe environment for the animals. Additional duties include moving, sorting, and loading livestock using safe handling practices, administering basic animal health treatments under supervision such as vaccines or medications, and keeping records as directed by the employer. Workers may also assist with routine maintenance and repair of fencing, water systems, and other infrastructure. While the primary focus will be on sheep, workers may also assist with cattle care as needed. Workers must be able to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and demonstrate attentiveness and care when working with livestock. Experience in lambing and/or cattle production and English language proficiency would be beneficial, but is not required. A general work week is Thursday through Tuesday from 6 am to 5 pm, thus Saturday and Sunday work are required. Workers will receive at least one day off per week for their Sabbath, Wednesday. However, because of the complexity of the crop conditions workers may be requested to work long days as well as Federal Holidays, depending upon the conditions of the commodities being produced. Workers may also be requested to work in various shifts: 4pm-12am and 12am-6am.
