Operate tractors, hay mowers, rakes, tedders, balers and other farm equipment to mow, rake, ted and bale hay. Load hay bales on trucks/trailers for transport to storage. Store hay properly to prevent spoilage and preserve its nutritional value. Plant winter grass, spread lime, pull soil samples, and apply weed control on grazing areas. Perform general farm labor jobs-equipment maintenance (clean, change oil); repair fences, farm sheds, barns, mow around buildings and remove debris, clean and prepare equipment for storage. Feed and water cattle. Inspect hay for any signs of deterioration before feeding. Monitor the animals’ consumption of feed to ensure they are getting enough nutrients. Feed supplements when necessary. Ensure that cattle have access to fresh, clean water at all times. Observe cattle closely for signs of distress, illness, or injury. Monitor cattle in preparation for calving. Assist with calving and breeding processes. Assist with banding and tagging. Assist with vaccination and preventive health measures. Work around cattle in close quarters: cattle pens and processing facilities and maintain quiet calm demeanor. Check fencing regularly for any damages. Waste management-muck stalls, clean calving areas, maintain clean and safe housing and grazing areas. Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, planters, and sprayers. Prepare fields for planting by tilling, leveling, and clearing debris. Assist with planting, fertilizing, and applying herbicides or other treatments as needed. Monitor and assess field health, identifying potential nutrient deficiencies or other issues. Maintain and repair irrigation systems. Keep fence rows clear and well-maintained. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of farm equipment. Conduct minor repairs or notify supervisors of necessary repairs. Ensure all farm equipment is in optimal working condition for efficient operations. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs. Inventory spare parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance.
