Duties may include but are not limited to; pulling weeds, picking up stones and roots, removal of reflective tarps within orchard rows, cleaning of tractors and other equipment, remove strings and wire from trellises as well as other hand tasks. Workers may be required to handle tasks involved with care of young, non-fruit producing fruit trees such as weeding, hand clipping and tree trunk painting. Instructions, supervision, and direction of the workers will be provided by a company/orchard supervisor. All workers hired must be able to understand, comprehend and follow instructions of a company/orchard supervisor and must be able to communicate effectively with said supervisors. Any task that is unusual, complex, or not routine will be supervised as well. The employer retains full discretion to make work assignments and will consider unforeseen circumstances such as weather or unscheduled or unexpected interruptions to regular work. It is expected that all workers must perform the work assigned by the foreman or crew boss. Workers may not perform duties that are not accounted for in this job order or work areas not assigned unless authorized by the foreman or crew boss. Workers will be expected to perform all the listed duties assigned by his/her supervisor. Workers may also not leave their assigned job area unless authorized to do so. Leaving the farm or job area without permission may be considered voluntary resignation. Workers may be required to attend an orientation on workplace rules, policies, and safety information. This will take place beginning work or after the date of need. Workers may be expected to perform and should be able to perform repetitive movements and engage in extensive walking and being on his/her feet while bent in different positions for extended periods of time. Allergies to common allergens such as ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray and related chemicals may affect workers ability to perform this job. Work is expected to be done for long periods of time and temperatures may range from below freezing up to or above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Workers may be required to work outside when plants, trees or other agricultural products are wet with dew or rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions. Workers may be required to work during occasional weather conditions such as snow or rain that are not severe enough to stop field or orchard operations. Saturday and Sunday work may be required of all workers. All workers must be able to lift and/or carry 65 pounds throughout the day.
