The worker will perform assigned tasks for planting cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and leafy greens. Job specifications will be carried out as directed by the farm manager or crew supervisor. Duties may vary occasionally and may include all of the following job specifications: Vegetable Planting/Harvesting/Packing: Workers will plant, harvest, and pack vegetables throughout the season. Weeding: Workers will hoe weeds from paths and manually remove all weeds growing around plants. Workers will remove weeds from the growing area and dispose of them as directed. Plastering: Workers will hold the plastic at the end of the row while the machine unrolls it. Workers will level the ends of the rows with a shovel to straighten them and also clean out the ditches at the end of the row. Unload the plastic and drip tape from the truck and load them onto farm machinery as needed. Removing the Plastic and Drip Tape: Unhook the drip tape from the main water line, walk down the row while lowering the plastic down the bed until it is completely removed. Take the removed plastic to the appropriate disposal or incineration station, as instructed. Connecting the Drip Tape: Workers will cut the drip tape at the end of the bed, as instructed, and connect it to the main water line. General Farm Work: Tasks workers must be able to perform include: removing debris from bed preparation to clean the growing area, finishing the ends of rows with shovels, manually unloading plants from trucks and moving them to the planting site, replanting missing or diseased plants as instructed, removing debris, boxes, and discarded fruit from the field to keep growing areas clean, performing basic irrigation maintenance, and cleaning and maintaining equipment and tools.
