Crops: Sugarcane Plant, cultivate and harvest sugarcane andsoybeans.90% manual labor, 10% operate farm equipment. Operate farm vehicles, tractors and agricultural equipment. Work ingroups to plant sugarcane while walking behind moving wagon. Use hand tools such as shovels, machetes and knives. Duties may include plowing, harrowing, tilling soil, weeding crops and applying fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. Clean and load harvested products. Load field wagons with sugarcane stalks that have been segmented using machetes. Walk behind wagons and hand plant sugarcane at designated intervals in furrows. Repair fences and farm buildings. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements and agricultural equipment. Operate farm vehicles to load sugarcane onto trailers to assist with the completion of the harvest process. Dig, clear and maintain ditches to drain water from fields. Inform farm managers of crop progress. Assist in Good Agricultural Practices policies. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be offered additional hours and asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.
