The Agricultural Farmworker is responsible for performing technical tasks according to the needs of the coffee farms during the full period of pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest stages. These tasks include but are not limited to: maintenance and upkeep of coffee plantations at all stages (new, young, and full production age), weeding, application of inputs, removal of old or damaged trees and their roots, planting windbreak barriers, planting new shade trees, and managing existing shade trees in the coffee plantations. Additional tasks include harvesting coffee cherries throughout the ripening period, handling harvested cherries, pruning coffee trees, preparing the land, planting new coffee trees, and conditioning the plantations for the next years coffee crop. Workers are required to hand-pick ripe coffee cherries one by one, while carrying a basket around the waist, with a minimum expected rate of 37 pounds per hour. Land Preparation and Maintenance: Preparing fields for planting, maintaining the coffee plantations at all stages (new, young, and mature), and ensuring proper soil management. Weeding and Input Application: Conducting regular weeding and applying necessary agricultural inputs for plant health. Tree Management: Planting coffee trees, managing shade trees, establishing windbreaks, and removing old or damaged tees and their roots. Pruning: Performing both maintenance and renovation pruning to ensure plant health and productivity. Harvesting: Manually picking ripe coffee cherries during the harvest season, a task that requires skill and physical endurance, with a minimum expected picking rate of 37 pounds per hour. Post-Harvest Handling: Properly handling and preparing harvested cherries for processing. Workers must be physically capable of standing for extended periods, walking up and down hills, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending at the waist, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting and carrying items weighing between 5 and 60 pounds. The position demands physical endurance, coordination, and attention to detail. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week, with the possibility of paid overtime depending on crop maturity and related task needs. Consistent and punctual attendance during scheduled work hours is expected. Unsatisfactory attendance, including repeated absences, tardiness, or early departures, may result in disciplinary action. Workers are required to notify the farm manager or designated supervisor as far in advance as possible before the start of the workday. The Agricultural Farmworker must comply with all company safety standards, internal policies, and applicable federal and state labor regulations.
