Cucumber: Prepare planting areas by laying down grow slabs and installing irrigation drippers. • Plant young cucumber seedlings and hang support strings at top and bottom of each plant. • Prune plants regularly to remove dead or overgrown branches and deformed fruit. • Twist plants around support string to maintain plant structure and prevent breakage. • Clip stems and prune side chutes to promote healthy plant development. • Perform fruit pruning throughout the crop cycle by removing early or deformed fruit. • Maintain stem integrity; replace broken heads with nearby side chutes. • Immediately remove and dispose of dead or sick plants. • Dump pruned material (leaves) in designated compost containers and maintain clean walkways. • Pick cucumbers carefully, cutting stems cleanly at the dark ring to avoid disease. • Gently place cucumbers into containers to avoid bruising or product damage. • Report any signs of pest infestations, plant disease, canker symptoms, or water system issues. • Follow specific sanitation protocols to prevent and control canker outbreaks (e.g., use of foot baths, hand sanitizers, glove changes, and disinfecting tools and carts). • Participate in greenhouse cleanout at season end: remove plants, cut string, pull tarps, shred plant debris, and clean greenhouse structure using blowers and washers.
