Sorting/Grading potatoes: Potatoes will be harvested by machine and put in a conveyor belt; workers will stand by the conveyor belt and sort the potatoes by size and quality at the same time workers will need to remove debris. Potatoes packing: Trucks will take the harvested potatoes to the packing house which is located inside the farm, workers will pick out the potatoes that will be used for seed the rest of the potatoes will be separated by size, labeled and packed. Harvesting melon by hand, the worker will walk down the melon field rows where the melon will be harvested. The worker will first cut the vine off the melon with a small knife and turn the melon over. The worker will bend over harvesting the ripe melon which can vary in weight from 20 to 60 lbs. from the ground and tossing the melon to the worker next to him and this worker will toss the melon to the next worker and so on, until the melon is then tossed to the person inside the bus who will place the melon on the floor. Packing: When the bus is full, it will be taken to the packing house where the workers will unload the melon and put it in a conveyor belt that will transport the melon into the packing house where it will be separated by size, labeled and packed. Harvesting beans by hand, the worker will walk down the field rows where the beans will be harvested. The worker will stoop/lean over the plant inspecting the quality of the beans. Worker will carefully young and tender 3 inch bean pods by holding the stem with one hand and pulling pods with the other, without damaging it or the plant and putting them in a container. Once the container is full the worker will take the container to the truck and dump the content. The worker will go back to his picking area and fill his container up again, repeating the process through the work day. Vegetable Packing: Trucks will take the harvested vegetables to the packing house which is located inside the farm, workers will pick out the vegetables that will be used for seed the rest of the vegetables will be separated by size, labeled and packed. Note: The packing house is located inside the Farm and more than 50% of the product processed is produced by the Fixed Site Employer. Harvesting of vegetables: Once at the picking location, doing a row at a time, workers will move down the rows plucking the vegetables from the plants and putting them in a container. Once the container is full the worker will take the container to the truck and dump the content. The worker will go back to his picking area and fill his container up again, repeating the process through the work day.
