Assist with monitoring/maintenance of water sources, water tanks, pipelines and reservoirs to ensure the health and well-being of the cattle and to facilitate the movement of range cattle to adhere to grazing plans; assist with calving; may help with supplemental feeding of range livestock using trucks, tractors and related trailers on the range; protect and care for cattle; may assist with branding, ear notching, dehorning, castrating, vaccinating livestock; report observations of livestock to employer, concerning health and injuries and help with administration of medications; assist with gathering, sorting, weaning and shipment of range livestock; assist with movement of cattle through chutes/corrals & onto scales during sorting, shipping, and weaning processes; care for horses including shoeing horses; maintain/construct fences/corrals (metal & wood) using related equipment. Maintain, collect, and store supplemental feed on the range for range livestock. Feed, water, herd livestock to pasture for grazing; examine animals to detect disease and injury; assist with vaccination of livestock by herding into corral or manually restraining animal on the range; apply medications to cuts and bruises. Plant and irrigate hay for the cattle and horses. Must be able to ride and handle horse in a manner to assure the safety of worker, co-workers and livestock. Clean livestock stalls and sheds, using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels. Maintain ranch buildings. Use equipment such as ATVs, tractors, trucks, trailers, and other equipment related and necessary for the performance of the above duties. Maintain equipment in a working condition and observe safe practices. Work is performed on the range for more than 50% of the workdays in the contract period. The duties described herein (and/or related duties) constitute the production of range livestock and/or are closely and directly related to herding and/or the production of range livestock. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 50 lbs frequently The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Employer will furnish at no cost, all tools including but not limited to: rope, tack, gloves, veterinary equipment, hand tools, protective gear, bedding etc. as well as effective electronic means of communication (cell phone and 2 way radio) for work and emergency purposes. If worker is in an area where electronic communication will not work, the employer or person designated by employer will contact the worker in regular pre-scheduled visits twice daily.
