The Harvest Operator is responsible for operating machinery and performing manual labor to harvest crops in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. • Drive and control farm equipment to harvest crops such as peas and corn with attention to surroundings and operation of equipment in a safe and careful manner. May also include operating stationary equipment to perform post-harvest tasks. • Perform pre-inspection of all equipment before operating machinery and notify the supervisor immediately if adjustments, repairs or service are needed. Communicate with supervisors and/or peers in person, telephone or written form. • Observe and listen to machinery while operating to detect any equipment malfunctions. • Manipulate controls to set, activate and adjust mechanisms on machinery. • Use of hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials and manipulating things. • Load of hoppers, containers, truck trailers with agricultural products being harvested. • Perform sanitation and inspections at the end of each shift. • Perform manual labor, including picking, sorting, and loading crops into transport vehicles. • Adhere to proper harvesting techniques to ensure product quality and prevent crop damage. • Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures while operating machinery and handling crops. • Maintain and clean equipment, ensuring proper function and reducing downtime. • Assist in field preparation, and general farm maintenance as needed. • Comply with all H-2A program requirements, including housing rules, work-hour expectations, and proper documentation. • Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper hygiene practices while handling crops.
