Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers’ fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as-needed basis). Load and unload agricultural products into and out of trucks, and drive trucks for market delivery and/or storage facilities. Not all workers are requested to drive; drivers will be required to possess a valid operator’s license. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess an operator’s license. May drive and operate farm trucks and tractors. Farm workers place seeds or seedlings into the soil, ensuring proper spacing and depth for optimal growth. They prepare trays or fields for seeds, sowing them by hand or using equipment, depending on the crop. Remove unwanted plants (weeds) that compete with crops for nutrients, sunlight, and water, either manually or with tools. Collecting mature crops carefully to prevent damage, using hands or harvesting tools, and preparing them for further processing. Cleaning harvested produce to remove dirt and debris; then sorting , grading, packing it for distribution or sale. Maintaining the cleanliness of work area, including storage rooms, packing areas, and equipment to meet food safety standards. Setting up or repairing irrigation systems to ensure crops receive the proper amount of water. Manually seed, plant, transplant, cultivate, irrigate, harvest by hand and machine agricultural commodity including but not limited to tomatoes, onions, cilantro, herbs, vegetables, potatoes, squash, greens and other produce. Duties include yard clean-up and maintenance, field preparation by tilling soil, applying fertilizers, applying spray, mulching, weeding, thinning and pruning in the fields and/or greenhouses. Use hand tools including but not limited to clippers, hammer, shovels, and knives. Repair, maintain, clean, sanitize farm vehicles, tractors and implements and equipment, and buildings used in processing produce. Construct trellises, repair fences, & farm buildings. Work requires standing, sitting, kneeling and lifting up to 75lbs. on a consistent basis throughout the day. While working in the field cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only. Due to health and safety concerns on our farm workers must understand basic instruction in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in his order.
