Row Crop Production: Preparation and Tillage of Soil: Operate and maintain agricultural equipment, including plows, discs, and other tillage machinery, to prepare fields for planting. Ensure proper soil conditioning by following prescribed tillage methods. Perform routine inspections and adjustments of tillage equipment for optimal performance. Application of Fertilizer and Chemicals: Safely handle and operate equipment to apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with agricultural standards. Calibrate and maintain application equipment to ensure accurate coverage and proper use of materials. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for handling agricultural chemicals. Planting Corn and Soybeans: Operate and maintain planters and other seeding equipment to plant crops such as corn and soybeans. Monitor planting processes to ensure uniform spacing, depth, and proper seed placement. Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is functioning correctly. Cutting, Raking, Baling, and Wrapping Hay: Operate hay-making equipment, including mowers, rakes, balers, and wrappers, to produce high-quality hay. Monitor field conditions to determine optimal timing for cutting and baling. Perform maintenance and basic repairs on hay equipment as needed. Assisting in Harvest Activities: Operate grain carts, augers, combines, and grain trucks during harvest operations. Load, transport, and unload t1arvested crops safely and efficiently. Assist with maintenance of harvest equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Monitor grain quality during harvest and report any issues to supervisors. General Conditions: If work is available beyond normal workdays, employer may offer, but not require, worker an opportunity to work additional hours. Workers will report to work at designated time and place as directed by assigned employer each day. workers may be requested to ten (10) hours per day depending on conditions in fields and the maturity of the crops. Also, workers may be requested to work on federal holidays and their Sabbath but will not be required. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Down time: Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer’s control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season. Worker may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew / rain and should have suitable clothing for conditions which include light rain and temperatures ranging from 10 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers should be able to stand, bend, stoop and work for prolonged periods of time and be physically fit to perform duties as assigned. Care must always be exercised with any use of equipment
