Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of Pecans. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to irrigation/agricultural equipment operation. Worker will apply specific techniques as instructed by the employer in order to plant, feed, treat, cultivate, prune, harvest, and store crops/plants/trees/vines. Duties related to general farm work may include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; drive, load/unload farm trucks on or between farm worksites; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers; use tractor with mechanical equipment to perform canopy elimination of excess leaves/debris; remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from farm grounds; prepare fields, seed beds, containers, plastic growing beds, etc.; hand plant trees, vines, and/or plants in fields, orchards, and/or containers; use tools to dig holes to plant young trees; walk behind equipment to ensure plant placement (unclog planter if necessary); plant transplants with machine or by hand; observe general condition and inspect crops/plants/trees for signs of disease/insect manifestations/worms/rot and apply appropriate care; remove dead plants and replace with seeds or live plants; use mechanized or hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning tools, shears, knives, saws, ladders, etc.; observe general condition of plants/vines/trees and apply the appropriate care; inspect crop for signs of disease/insect manifestations/worms/rot; recognize crop nutrient/moisture requirements an apply the appropriate care; mix/spray/apply chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, and other plant related treatments (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) by hand or machine; spread fertilizer; haul/spread soil or products to condition land; spread composted material; fill growing tanks with water; dig/rake and screen soil and fill cold frames/hot beds; move containerized plants/vines/trees; dig/wrap roots of plants/vines/trees; pick up/handle/climb ladders; lift items such as rolls of plastic, bundles of wire, and rolls of drip tape over head; read/interpret meters used to regulate/control environmental conditions; maintain/repair hydroponic/environmental control systems; build/install/maintain trellises; remove strings/wire from trellises or other structures; clear property; cut down trees; clear and burn roots and brush; identify, trap, poison pests; identify and remove product that is misshapen, damaged, or inferior; pollinate/prune/transplant/pinch plants/vines/trees and cull appropriately to ensure development of product; prune/thin plants/vines/trees using a variety of hand and/or mechanized pruning equipment; prune and thin from ground, ladder, or motorized platform; identify and remove stubs or broken branches, downward-growing branches, branches which rub against each other, shaded interior branches, dead wood and shoots/suckers; remove bud and/or identifiable fruit from within a cluster of other fruits; train trees/vines to trellis, including clipping and tying limbs and shoots to wire; stake and tie plants/trees; train, position, prop, and tie tree limbs; paint tree trunks; sow grass seed and/or plant plugs of sod; cut/roll/stack/load and unload sod; mow/tend farm areas; maintain/repair fencing; paint/repair/maintain farm structures/grounds; perform general clean-up of farm areas and worksites; clean fields after harvest; collect fallen debris/product into piles using rake;
